Roberto Matute Puras (born 26 August 1972) is a Spanish retired professional footballer who played as a forward.

Football career

Born in San Asensio, La Rioja, Matute made his professional debuts with local club CD Logroñés, but could never impose in its first team: after only seven La Liga matches in his first two years combined he appeared relatively more, experiencing both one promotion and relegation.

Aged 24, Matute moved to neighbouring Portugal where he would spend the next three seasons, with G.D. Chaves (two) and C.F. Os Belenenses, helping the latter return to the country's top division with eight successful strikes. In the 1999 summer he signed with Dundee F.C. in the Scottish Premier League, but returned to his country after only two 1/2 months and one start, joining third level side Burgos CF.

For the following five seasons Matute continued playing in the third-tier, with UDA Gramenet and local CD Recreación (named in 2005 Logroñés CF, where the player appeared in his final season, retiring at 34).
