Ramon Tremosa i Balcells (born 30 June 1965) is a Democratic Convergence of Catalonia politician. He sits as a Member of the European Parliament for Spain.[1]
Tremosa is an economics graduate of the University of Barcelona, where he lectured until his election to the European Parliament. He has also worked in the ministry of social welfare of the Government of Catalonia.[2]
In the European Parliament, Tremosa has been serving on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs since 2009. Since 2014, he has also been a member of the parliament's delegation for relations with the United States. In 2014, he co-sponsored (with Andreas Schwab) a non-binding bill before the European Parliament calling on the European Commission to consider separating Google’s search-engine business from its other commercial activities to ensure fair competition on the internet.[3][4]
In addition to his committee assignment, Tremosa is a member of the European Parliament Intergroup on Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas.[5]
