Mike Pringle CBE FRCGP is a general practitioner and is the current President of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He was elected as the RCGP’s 23rd President in June 2012, taking up the position in November 2012.[1]

He is now retired from clinical practice, having worked as a general practitioner for 30 years. He was Emeritus Professor of General Practice at University of Nottingham. He is Strategic Director of PRIMIS, a business unit of the University of Nottingham, that provides a range of primary care health informatics services to the health sector and research community.[2] He is a healthcare informatics expert and was an adviser for the NHS IT programme.[3]

He was Chair of RCGP Council from 1998-2001, Chair of the RCGP Trustee Board 2009-2012 and RCGP revalidation clinical lead 2008-2012.[4]

He is on the Board of Trustees at Arthritis Research UK.[5]

In 2001 he was awarded a CBE for services to medicine.[6]
