Ihor Mykhaylovych Rybak (Ukrainian: Ігор Михайлович Рибак, March 21, 1934 – September 28, 2005) was a Ukrainian weightlifter and Olympic champion who competed for the Soviet Union.[1]
He was born in Kharkiv.[1] Rybak represented Avanhard sports society.
Rybak won a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne in the lightweight class.[1][2] He also won the 1956 European middleweight Weightlifting Championship. In the late 1950s, he became a doctor.[1]
Dr. George Eisen of Nazareth College included Rybak on his list of Jewish Olympic Medalists, as did Joseph Siegman in Jewish sports legends: the International Jewish Hall of Fame.[3][4]
