Global public–private partnership

Global public–private partnership (GPPP) is a new governance mechanism to foster cooperation between an international intergovernmental organisation like the United Nations and private companies.

It is an effort to move away from hierarchical, vertical, inter-governmental institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO), towards horizontal, participative, coordinating arrangements between private organizations, companies, and other non-governmental institutions. Since it is a fairly new mechanism, there is no defined structure or standard organization.

Existing GPPPs strive to increase affordable access to essential drugs in developing countries, promote handwashing with soap to reduce diarrhoea, and to introduce digital opportunities to developing countries.

The P3 model developed in Pakistan is built around this new approach, structured to enable Governments and in this case to provide a parallel low cost alternative to traditional healthcare using smart technology and corporate infrastructures and expertise which has been packaged as smart Corporate Responsibility.
