Summary

The Texas Star, the largest ferris wheel in North America, appears in the center of this image of the State Fair of Texas taken on September 30th, 2009.

This photograph also features the suspended tramway cars of the Texas Skyway, one of which was used to obtain this aerial shot. Directly below the Skyway is the Midway, rows of tents containing most of the carnival games and much of the food and refreshment attractions at the fair.

In the lower right-hand corner appears a "coupon booth" where fair-goers exchange cash for coupons, which are used as the official currency for the state fair. Cash is only exchanged at the coupon booths, not at the individual attractions of the fair.
