(Care must be taken when outrightly stating the Rhodesian Security Forces used "FN" FAL Rifles. "FN" was a common collective term for the FAL type Rifles that where in use and which included the British SLR and predominately the South African R1 Rifle, along with a number of original Belgium FN Rifles and some ex Israel FAL's. By the close of the war in the late 1970's, the Rifles in predominant use by regular forces where the R1 and G3. (Irregulars or "Auxiliary Forces" were initially issued with captured communist weapons such as the AK and SKS, but latterly these were withdrawn and replaced with G3's).
