File:Gaza Solidarity March, Wellington, 2 August 2014 12.JPG
Summary
On 2 August 2014, a peaceful protest march was held in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington" class="extiw" title="en:Wellington">Wellington, New Zealand</a> to protest the ongoing <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Israel%E2%80%93Gaza_conflict" class="extiw" title="en:2014 Israel–Gaza conflict">bombing of the Gaza strip by Israeli forces</a>. Students for Justice in Palestine organised the march, while several other organisations (including political parties, unions, and socialist groups) had representatives present.
The march began on Cuba Street and terminated at the Rabin Memorial near the Wellington City Library. The streets involved in the march were temporarily closed by police during the march. Speeches were made by a wide variety of people at both the origin and terminus of the march. At the terminus of the march, stones with the names of people killed in Gaza during the 2014 conflict were laid next to the Rabin Memorial. Some protesters called for the Rabin Memorial to be removed entirely.
The march was reasonably well attended, with several hundred participants. The weather held out for the duration of the march and speeches.
