current | 08:39, 5 January 2017 | 3,964 × 2,688 (869 KB) | 127.0.0.1 (talk) | A Drill Sergeant shout orders to his troops during an inspection of the Guard at Stirling Castle. <p>1st Battalion Scots Guards and 105th Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers) manned Stirling Castle to mark the Official Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen in June 2013. </p> <p><br> ARMY PRESS RELEASE - ROYAL SALUTES AT SCOTTISH CASTLES </p> <p>Gunners from 105th Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers) fired two 21-Gun Royal Salutes at Stirling and Edinburgh Castles today [Saturday, 15 June 2013] at 12 noon to mark the Official Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. </p> <p>In addition, 1st Battalion Scots Guards, in their iconic red tunics and bearskins, provided both Castle Guards. </p> <p>Commenting on the two Royal Salutes Commanding Officer of 105th Regiment Lieutenant Colonel James Cook said: </p> <p>“As the Scottish and Ulster Gunners we were honoured to fire the Royal Salutes at Edinburgh and Stirling Castles on the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s Official Birthday. </p> <p>“We were extremely privileged to have the General Officer Commanding Scotland, Major General Nick Eeles as the Reviewing Officer at Stirling Castle; and the Deputy Commander Land Forces, Major General Ranald Munro as the Reviewing Officer at Edinburgh Castle. </p> <p>Colonel Cook added: </p> <p>“It was also a great pleasure to have 1st Battalion Scots Guards who provided the Guard at both Castles, and it is worth noting the last time the Scots Guards Mounted the Guard at Stirling Castle was in 1685! </p> <p>“In addition 105th Regiment has now been given the official authority to fire four Royal Salutes annually at Stirling Castle. These will usually be fired by the Regiment’s 212 (Highland) Battery.” </p> <p>Music at Stirling Castle was provided by the Highland Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. </p> <p>The Royal Salute at Edinburgh Castle was fired by the Regiment’s 207 Battery.
