Summary

The allegorical clock depicts a lion-drawn chariot holding personifications of the Four Seasons: Spring sits in front and holds a floral garland; Summer holds a sheath of cereals and a sickle; Fall holds aloft a bunch of grapes; and Winter sits pensively in the rear, holding a lit brazier. A putto guides the lions. In the base there are five signs of the Zodiac in low relief placed within laurel coronas. After a design by Philippe Laurent Roland (1746-1816). Patinated bronze. France, Restoration period (Louis XVIII).
