Aleksandar Jovanović (Serbian pronunciation: [aleksǎːndar joʋǎːnoʋit͡ɕ]; born 4 August 1989) is an Australian football (soccer) defender playing for Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda.
Born in Melbourne, Australia, he also holds Serbian citizenship.[2]
Career
After playing in the Endeavour Sports High School team, he played with Parramatta Eagles in Australia[3] before signing in January 2008 with the Serbian SuperLiga club FK Vojvodina.[4] Because of his youth he failed to make any league appearance that season and in the following one, 2008–09, he was loaned to lower league neighbouring clubs FK Palić and FK Veternik.
In summer 2009 Vojvodina loaned him to Serbian First League club RFK Novi Sad where he stayed for a season and a half, becoming a regular player and making a total of 35 league appearances and even scoring one goal.
In summer 2011 he left FK Vojvodina and signed with another Serbian top league club, FK Hajduk Kula. He made his Serbian SuperLiga debut on 25 September 2011, in a match against Red Star Belgrade.
In 2012 he had a brief spell at Thai Premier League side BEC Tero Sasana F.C.. After which he joined Suwon City FC for the 2013 K League Challenge in South Korea. After one season he moved up a division to K League Classic side Jeju United for the 2014 season.[5]
On 6 February 2016, Jovanovic transferred to Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda. [6]
He plays as center-back.
